In the time preceding sending a push alert, the team started our tradition of having thoughtful, open discussions about what is actually newsworthy and whether or not it was worth disrupting a user’s day.Īt the start of 2016, BuzzFeed News formed the News Curation team, which combined the mobile, social, and homepage teams. In that era of push alerts, it felt like a lot of news organizations were sending alerts without thinking about why a user might need that information at that particular moment.
